288. Heat Exposure to Boost Metabolism and Burn Fat

February 24, 2023·33m

In a recent episode, I challenged you to add in some beneficial cold thermogenesis to your weekly routine. But in this episode, I will give you insight to the flip side...heat thermogenesis. Heat thermogenesis in the studies I site state that by incorporating some heat stress, it can help boost metabolism. And who doesn't want this right?? It does this by increasing the body's energy expenditure. When the body is exposed to heat, whether through exercise, environmental factors like a sauna, or hot yoga, the body works to maintain its core temperature by increasing its metabolic rate. This increased metabolic rate causes the body to burn more calories, even at rest. Heat thermogenesis has been shown to increase the production of brown adipose tissue, or "brown fat," which is known to burn calories and help regulate body weight. By incorporating heat thermogenesis into your routine, you can effectively boost your metabolism and improve your body's ability to burn calories and maintain a healthy weight. Shop ALL of Dr.
